BOBBY LEASH
Growing up with Japanese manga and video games, one tend to have certain degrees of imagination running through their head. I build and expand my own world since I can remember. There’s always an urge to create, to reflect what I experience into an art form. I just didn’t know what it was back then.
During my school years, I discovered digital painting. At the time, there weren’t many proper academic training around. With limited access to knowledge, I learned how to paint on my own. And unknowingly, developed my own style.
Many artists started with Manga art, then move on as they mature. I don’t. The more I grow, the more I am drawn back to where I came from. To something I remember fondly since my childhood.
Cute, melancholy, and slightly macabre. My work is where the kids are ageless and their plays are struggles of life and death. Together they leave their childhood behind, to stay alive against the overwhelming odds. There is no point in living for them. They decide to stay just to see what the end looks like. The world is dying and unforgiving. Their chance to survive are slim. But they’ll live without hope if they have to.
Bobby Leash is currently working and living in Bangkok, Thailand.
